b. Traditional vs digital formats
Digital cameras take pictures in ¾ ratios such as 11 x 15cm. Prints that preserve this ratio allow a complete print out of your image (see below).
Traditional print sizes have a ratio of 2/3, as the very popular 10 x 15cm. The print is slightly narrower than the original image and must therefore crop photo files to fit them in.

Transfers up to 10 times faster using a compression module. This tool is designed for WebAlbum users that wish to share photos almost instantly with friends and family. These photos will NOT be printable.
In parallel, one may use another transfer mode for photos they also wish to print.
HTML Transfer
Admittedly less user friendly and slower than other transfer modes, it is compatible with ALL operating platforms (Windows, Mac, Unix, etc).

There is a maximum number of 1000 prints per order.
There is also a maximum file size of 15 Megabytes per photo.
The upload time depends essentially on :
- The upload-speed of your internet connection
- Your choice of transfer mode
- The size of your photo files
- In case the transfer is interrupted, don’t worry !

- No need to upload your photos more than once
We keep your transferred photos for 5 days since your last visit to the website. During this period you may add photos and make adjustment to your order basket. This also means that you do not need to place your order immediately after you have finished transferring.
- For transfer troubleshooting, please double check the following points
For those using a private network to access the Internet, please note that many companies will block the installation of ActiveX and Java components. In such cases, you should use the traditional HTML mode of transfer.
- Add www.foto.com to your list of trusted sites, which is the "green" list in your browser. Go to Tools > Internet > Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Site > Add
- If you are having difficulties with the ActiveX transfer modes, click here. If it still doesn't work, you can try Java by clicking on the link below the presentation of the ActiveX transfer modes.
- In order to use Java transfer modes, you must have pre-installed the free Java operational platform (www.java.com).
- If the Java transfer does not work either, you should try the HTML mode by clicking on the link below the presentation of the Java0 transfer modes.
- If the HTML transfer mode works, then your difficulties in transferring are being caused by the parameters of your internet browser, computer security options or network rights for those accessing the internet via a private network.
- Deactivate temporarily all firewalls and/or antivirus software that includes a firewall which could be stopping your computer from establishing a connection to our servers.
- To run Java version of Image Uploader, you should have Java runtime 1.4 or later to be installed. Furthermore, some Mac browsers require MRJ Plugin and Java Embedding Plugin. See the FAQ: Installation Problems topic for more details.
The following browsers are not supported:
- Internet Explorer for Mac
- Opera (regardless to the platform)
- If the HTML transfer mode still doesn't work, please contact us
- Mac users that encounter transfer difficulties
Make sure you have the last MacOS update installed. You must select "software update" within the system preferences. Then, search for new versions and updates for your softwares and install all elements "Java", "Safari" and "Mac OS X". Finally, you must restart your computer.
d. Order

After you have transfered your photos, you will land on the ordering page with a number of printing options available :
- You may select the number of copies that you wish for each photo - Select the size of the print - You may choose with or without white borders - Choose the printing area to "fill" or not to fill all the available paper surface - Chosse the paper finish (glossy or mat).

You can specify two different addresses: one for the customer information which will be used for reference and another one if the delivery address is different from the first.
Do not give the wrong address! It is the only case where the clause "money back guarantee" does not apply.

Foto.com is a secure site for 2 reasons:
1. We do not store the card numbers used to make payments in memory. These numbers and the other data are directly transmitted to the banks we work with, and we never have access to this information.
2. When this data is transmitted to the bank, it is sent in code and is illegible, except to the bank which receives it. Payment by home banking will also be available very soon.

Delivery is by post. For larger orders, special carriers other than the post may be used.
b. Most packages are delivered directly to your address.
The size of our packages, for orders of up to 400 pictures, ensures they are treated as letters (as opposed to parcels), and that therefore they can be delivered directly into your letterbox.
This said, it can happen that your postman or woman, does not drop it off for either one of two reasons:
- Your letterbox is considered too small.
- He or she has too much to carry that day and decides to leave you a note. In either of these cases, you will have to pick it at your local post office.

2. If you do not see that page for ANY reason, do not panic. Go to the homepage www.foto.com, click on the thumbnail "Order tracking" or use this link, and search on the lastname you used for your order. If you need help using the online tracking tool click here
Please try again a few hours after you placed your order as it can take some time for our systems to be updated.
3. You should also receive a confirmation email from us. However, your inbox might treat it as spam. To avoid this, you should add confirmation@foto.com to your address book as a contact, so that you can receive your invoice and notification of shipment when your order is complete.
e. What to do if you specified an incorrect delivery address?
Contact us immediately. If your order has not already been posted, we will make the appropriate corrections. Unfortunately, if your order is already with the post, you will have to make a new order.
f. What to do if the expected delay for the delivery of your order has been exceeded
1. Double check the status of your order by using the online order tracking, click here
2. If the status of your order is at 100%, this means your order has been processed and handed over to the postal services. Please be patient as we cannot influence such delays.
3. If the status of your order is not 100%, please be aware that we know it and are doing all we can to ensure your order is processed as quickly as possible. You will be notified by email when the status of your order changes and shall expect delivery within the next few days.
4. Services & guarantee

Exceptional photo printing and finishing quality is our objective. And hence, to put it simply: if the quality of our products does not meet your expectations, you will be reimbursed immediately. You must contact our customer support team within 4 weeks from the date of purchase.
This unilateral quality guarantee is limited to orders of :
- 100 photos 10 x 15 (or for all other orders laying in the same price range as an order with 100 photos 10 x 15)
- 1 photobook/photoalbum
This guarantee does not cover packaging and delivery costs. Of course, the guarantee applies to all quality issues such as damages during transportation and other similar accidental incidents.
b. FOTO.com ensures ALL customers against damages that may occur during transportation
Your photos will be sent to you in a rigid plastic packaging or an extra thick carton box (depending on the size of your order). The pictures will be held in place by a plastic tape as well as add foam packing. This packaging is far more resistant than the flexible packaging used by certain of our competitors. In addition, you are insured by our "money back guarantee".
When contacting customer support, please send a picture illustrating your claim as an attachment to your email.
c. FOTO.com's "Best price guarantee"

5. Tips & Tricks
a. Uploader
- Maximum of 1000 photos per transfer
- Limit of size : 5Mo per file (JPEG or jpg)
- The small color bars indicate to you if the quality of the file is sufficient to be correctly printed.
- PHOTOSHOP : if you use Photoshop to improve your photographs, please download and install the following profile (profile FOTO.com) and apply it to your photos.
- Use XnFoto (free) to eliminate the red eyes before transferring your photos.
- Choose the digital formats so that your photographs are not cropped.
b. Order
- Maximum of 1000 photos per order
- The appreciation which is under "Quality" indicates the quality of your file and if this one is sufficient to be correctly printed: optimal > sufficient > limit > insufficient
- Click on the eye to pre-view your photo and check framing.

If you used Photoshop to improve your photographs, please download and install the following profile (profile FOTO.com) and apply it to your photos. For any other profile used, you cannot trust the visualisation of this window)
- The red dotted line on the thumbnail indicates the printed area.
- You can specify 2 different addresses : one for customer information which will be used as reference and another if the delivery address is different (second screen of order)
- Double check your address. If you make a mistake in the address, it is the only case where the clause "Moneyback Guarantee" shall not be applied.
- Double check the summary of the order, check the quantity and the format of the photos are those you want (third screen of order)
c. Other
- The 3 different photo groups are not associable in the same order. A group = an order
- The different upload modes don't change anything to the price
- If you lose your order number, you can always find it by using the section "Order Tracking" of our site and make a name-based search.
- The only payment methods that are accepted are those indicated on the site
